This boldly patterned flying checkerboard is always a joy to see. Once abundant, it is now threatened and it’s resilience in a dwindling habitat is being tested. Sadly, the breeding pair that once frequented our property got scared away by ongoing fireworks in the area. Together we need to remove threats and increase recovery strategies for this species.

Lynne, a member of the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists, enjoys exploring the Bruce Peninsula through her camera lens then using acrylic paint to create an engaging visual representation of the inspiring nature surrounding her. Mindful painting has become a therapeutic practice for Lynne, involving meditative contemplation to increase awareness and relaxation while focusing on the joy of creativity.
